An Argentine artist died as a result of a heart attack while he was performing on stage at the Ambronais Baroque Music Festival in the French province of Ain, which led to the show being stopped and the audience withdrawing, according to what the fire brigades and the organizer reported.

The Fire and Rescue Authority in the French region of Ain announced on Saturday that a 54-year-old man, who was a member of the band on stage, died as a result of a health crisis he suffered during the show.

The deceased man is the Argentine baritone, Alejandro Mirabeville, who previously performed many times in Ambronais. The management of the Ambronaye Center for Cultural Encounters commented in a statement, saying: “His sudden departure leaves us in a state of shock.”

The Cappella Mediterranea band and the Namur Choir were performing on stage in the Church of Ambrona under the supervision of the Argentine orchestra conductor, Leonardo Garcia Alarcón, when the artist felt unwell.

The show was broadcast on the “Culture Box” television channel, affiliated with the public “France Television” network.

Emergency services intervened and “the public was quickly evacuated from the place, and a request for possible psychological support for the band was also sent to Center 15,” according to the Fire and Rescue Authority in the French region of Ain.

The Ambronaé Festival, which is one of the major annual Baroque events in Europe, will be held in its forty-fourth session from September 15 to October 8.
