Four months ago, Jérémy Ferrari, producer and great friend of Guillaume Bats, did not wish to speak to the media or the press. He wanted us “focuses on him, his talent, his courage, his strength, his light”.
This Monday, while he was invited on the set of the show “Clique” on Canal+, he agreed to talk.
The comedian explained why, on the day of Guillaume Bats’ death, he reacted on social networks, which he never usually did.
“I did it for several reasons, the first is that it was me who found Guillaume and the police told me, when they are personalities, it goes to high authority and therefore there is a risk of it coming out in the press.”
“I had a very bad feeling”
This June 1, 2023, it is around 6 p.m. when Jérémy Ferrari is informed by a colleague who takes care of the events part of the production company that Guillaume is not there and does not respond even though he has a conference .
“At the office, there are people who tell me, ‘We wrote to Guillaume around 12 p.m. and he doesn’t respond.he specifies. Guillaume was a fairly lazy person who liked to enjoy life but he responded. I had a very, very bad feeling.”
While he had planned to go to M’s concert, Jérémy Ferrari cancels and goes to Guillaume’s house. “I arrived, I heard the dog in the apartment so I broke down the door. I entered and I found Guillaume there”he continues.
“Everyone was stunned by this news”
For his faithful friend, Guillaume Bats “was much more than a comedian, he was like a little brother to me, we were together all the time”.
While this moment was of course traumatic and shocking, he is still happy to be the one who found it. “I didn’t want it to be other people from the office who were there; it would have pained me if they saw what I saw. It’s normal that it was me who was with him at that moment- there.”
The comedian explains that he didn’t expect that at all. “The reality is that we had lots of testimonies from people who had the same illness [ostéogenèse imparfaite] than him”, like this one “from a gentleman who was 70 years old”, et “Guillaume no longer broke like when he was born”.
And to remember that if “mediatically, it is [lui]” and we talk a lot regarding his pain, there is also his entire adoptive family, his friends, his loved ones.
“He was the mascot of many people, even in his neighborhood. He was extremely sociable (…) Everyone was stunned by this news.”
