After the desert World Cup in Qatar, ARD presenter Alexander Bommes (46) is also not available for the Handball World Cup in Poland and Sweden. For health reasons, he canceled the broadcaster.
The ARD announced on Thursday followingnoon.
Bommes is quoted in it: “After a year in which I, like many people, had to accept some health restrictions, I want to complete further recovery and therefore consequently refrain from moderating this year’s Handball World Cup.”
Next bomb drop!
The ARD moderator already canceled the broadcaster at the football World Cup in Qatar. During the World Cup rehearsals on November 19, he felt weak.
He therefore had to cancel his assignment in the top handball game Magdeburg once morest Kiel on the same evening.
At that time, Bommes told SportBILD: “After a series of infections, I had hoped to get really fit once more until the very end. That didn’t work out, and so in the end it was a logical decision, which I obviously very much regret, also with regard to our team.”
Jessy Wellmer stepped in for him at short notice.
Now Bommes will be replaced by Stephanie Müller-Spirra (39), who was born in Erfurt and is making her World Cup debut. Former world champion of 2007 Dominik Klein (39) supports you as an ARD expert.
Müller-Spirra: “Of course I’m very curious regarding everything that’s coming! Substituting for Alex Bommes is a huge task, but I will give everything – together with Dominik Klein. Above all, I hope that Alex himself will be able to be healthy and happy in front of the camera once more soon.”
Sports journalist Florian Naß (54) works as a reporter.
Bommes sees the ARD in a good position. “Dominik Klein is in competent and friendly hands with Stephanie – and I’m very happy regarding that.”
Ex-handball professional Bommes has to pass once more for health reasons at a World Cup. Until recently, a comeback from him was expected. Unfortunately in vain.
