Less than two years ago, George and Amal Clooney became Varois by adoption, when they acquired the Canadel estate in Brignoles, its 18th century Provençal bastide and its 172 hectares of land.
Since then, the couple has already demonstrated a discreet but real desire to get involved in local life. Thus, the mayor of Val (municipality close to their domain), Jérémy Giuliano, revealed a few weeks ago that the couple had made a generous donation of 20,000 euros to the municipality, affected by floods in October 2021.
“George Clooney told me, ”I’m ready””
At the same time, the Hollywood star and his lawyer wife are currently discussing with the municipality of Brignoles as part of a project to create a municipal farm. “George Clooney said to me: ”I’m ready””, says Didier Brémond, mayor of Brignoles and president of the Provence Verte conurbation. “He wants to invest locally. The realization of this agreement must be done within the year. The city has a municipal farm project for its canteens on land that belongs to it or that it will acquire. As part of setting up this project, George Clooney has offered to help us in a form and an amount that have yet to be determined.”
A project that is part of a strong desire to preserve or even reclaim agricultural land in green Provence, around the “PAT”, the territorial food plan.
