Deputy Gonzalo Winter recalled that Senator Ximena Rincón herself voted in favor of the project, during the previous government of Sebastián Piñera.
The Deputy Gonzalo Winter denied the Senator Ximena Rincon, following the latter criticized the government for the VAT collection on services.
Let us remember that as of January 1, 2023, all professional services provided by companies and some companies in Chile must pay VAT.
This is a measure that affects at least 60 economic activities that currently do not pay this tax.
This provoked criticism from the Democrats chair, who pointed to the Government for the measure, ironizing even with the popular song by Shakira.
“And more VAT on services !!! Only the common expenses of thousands of families will increase 5% + due to VAT, non-ambulatory health expenses 19%, nursing home services 19% etc… Clearly they are not understanding anything in the government! ”, she tweeted.

However, her questioning was replicated by the deputy Gonzalo Winter, who reminded her that she herself voted in favor of the project, during the Government of Sebastián Piñera.
“I have long avoided hateful disputes, spurious ties and mud, but this exceeded unacceptable ethical minimums. The law that the Senator mentions is from the previous government and was approved with her own favorable vote, ”he replied on the same social network.

Precisely, as published Fast Check CL, On January 24, 2022, Senator Rincón voted in favor of the bill that seeks to finance the Universal Guaranteed Pension through the elimination of tax exemptions.
In simple terms, this implies the increase in the payment of Value Added Tax (VAT) for services, such as non-ambulatory health expenses and nursing home services, as claimed by the parliamentarian.
In fact, the project was evaluated by the senator herself, ensuring that “it seeks to simplify the tax system regarding the use of various instruments of the capital market, real estate, those that affect VAT and the luxury market, among others.”
In the midst of the controversy, through Twitter, Rincón responded to Winter, assuring that he has not blamed the current government for this law.
“Dear @gonzalowinter, I have never blamed this government for that law. I have always said that it was in a previous government and, moreover, I said that I did not support this at the time (January 2022) because it was bad. The point is that we have been asking this government that it has a higher standard changed it!” he wrote.

Consulted by Fast Check CL, Rincón also explained that although she voted in favor of the project in general of the Universal Guaranteed Pension in the Chamber, she abstained in the Finance Commission regarding increasing VAT on services.
