Al-Marsad Newspaper: Sources revealed new information regarding the Yemeni resident who was overthrown yesterday, and reported that “he tried to escape from what he did by smashing his phone used in the crime, destroying the SIM card and using the vehicle he was driving in an attempt to escape from the security men.”

The offense in which he was involved

For his part, Legal Counsel Saif Hakami said, according to “Okaz”, that the resident was involved in violating the laws of combating terrorism and its financing and combating cybercrime, as the first article of the Law on Combating Terrorism Crimes and Financing defined that every behavior the offender performs in implementation of an individual or collective criminal project. Directly or indirectly, it is intended to disturb public order.

The expected punishment

Hakami added that Article 55 sets a prison term of no more than 5 years for anyone who covers up any of the crimes stipulated in the law or one of its perpetrators, sympathizes with terrorist acts and covers up their supporters and perpetrators.

He said that the second crime committed by the resident was violating the cybercrime law, whose Article 6 stipulates imprisonment for a period not exceeding 5 years and a fine of not more than 3 million riyals, or one of these two penalties for each person who produces something that would prejudice public order.
