A Reddit user showed what his gaming PC looked like following six years without cleaning it. The photograph received thousands of comments and some even asked him to show how it looked following the cleaning he gave it followingwards.

“This is shameful. This is not an old PC that was sitting in storage. It’s the one I use for daily play. I have never opened it once since I bought it 6 years ago. Surprisingly, it works fine. It was so satisfying to clean it,” said @jbclassic6889, in his reddit post.

Along with his words, the user showed the photograph of what he found inside: the layer of dust was so thick that from a distance it looked like cobwebs or a layer of fungus. The image caught the attention of the community and several launched their questions.

Some wanted to know what he cleaned the PC with, while others “demanded” that he show the image following removing all the dust. “This kind of thread need ‘before and following’ screenshots”indicated one of his followers.

However, the most surprising part was that the author of the post assured that his PC was working and is still fine. The amount of dust the computer had might not only have led to hardware issues, but also excessive noise from the effort. Especially for the fans.

Added to that is that thermal paste usually lasts between 2 and 5 years, depending on the quality. That is to say, that it had no problems was practically a miracle, since both the processor and the graphics card might have collapsed. This even caused some to ask regarding the components.

It is advisable to clean the inside of computers on a recurring basis. That is, give it, at least, a monthly maintenance. In case the user does not know how to do it or is afraid of creating a problem, he can always approach a professional.
