He took a DNA test and found out that his father was his uncle: “I destroyed the family”

A 19-year-old boy took a DNA test with one goal in mind: to have fun. However, the results ended up doing much more than that. “I destroyed my whole family,” said the subject, whose identity was not revealed, according to the British newspaper ‘The Mirror’.

For only 80 euros – just over 410,000 Colombian pesos – the man bought a genealogical test that, instead of generating laughter, ended up uncovering a dark family secret that was buried in the past at that time.

According to the aforementioned tabloid, once the results arrived, the young man decided to enter the family section to see his matches. It was at that moment that he realized that he only shared 29.2 percent of his DNA with what he believed to be his biological father.

The results up to that point seemed meaningless. However, he detailed another peculiar coincidence in the tests: she shared 24.6 percent of the DNA with his cousin. This figure alerted the young man, as cousins generally only agree with regarding 12 percent.

Although it crossed his mind that it might be an inaccuracy with the percentages or an error, in the end he opted for the simplest hypothesis: “The only realistic explanation for what I was seeing was that my uncle, my cousin’s father, and My father’s brother is my father.”

The possibility of being his uncle’s son was a blow that took him by surprise. After assimilating the information and giving way to anger, he went in search of answers that, according to him, only his mother might give him. Without thinking twice, she took the DNA results, showed them to her mother and directly asked her if she had cheated on “dad” with Uncle David.

“I told him everything: the test, the percentages, the DNA matches, everything! My mom fell to the ground crying, begging me not to tell dad, ”the subject continued with his story.

After discovering the truth regarding his real father, the individual rushed to call his cousin -actually half-sister- and, later, his uncle David -the real father- came to the house asking what had happened. At this, the young man had no choice but to confront him as well. “He didn’t say anything following calming down. He left the room and I closed the door.

The news was followed by a heated argument between his parents and, according to him, also a physical confrontation between his uncle and what he believed to be his father. It was all “chaos” that took place behind the door of his room.

The collapse of his family aroused feelings of guilt in him; However, he does not fully regret having taken that DNA test that changed his life and that of all those close to him.

“If I had spent my birthday money on something else, none of this would have happened, but another part of me is glad to know the truth,” the man said, according to ‘The Mirror’.
