Nilambur (Malappuram): The body of Shaba Sharif, a traditional healer from Mysore, was found with a piece of wood used to cut it. Bathery, the accused in custody, took Noushad to the spot and took evidence from the police.
According to Noushad, the main accused Mukkatta bought the piece of wood on the instructions of Kaipancherry Shaib. Noushad went to the sawmill in Muktada and searched for the timber, but it was not there. Usman then introduced the timber merchant Paramban Ummer. Ummer showed Noushad the pieces of tamarind he had bought and cut on private land in Muktada. The thickest piece of them was cut to a height of one and a half feet. It was said to be for cutting fish.
Ummer showed the tree stump to the police. The statement of Ummer and the landlord was recorded. Noushad also bought a meat cleaver to cut the corpse. The accused will be taken to the shop where he bought the knife and the lodge where he stayed today and evidence will be taken. He will then be sent back to jail.
