**Interview with Giorgos Gavrilos, Former Parliamentary Representative of SYRIZA**
**Interviewer:** Good afternoon, Mr. Gavrilos. Thank you for joining us. You recently resigned from your duties as a parliamentary representative for SYRIZA but have chosen to remain a member of the party. Can you explain the reasons behind your resignation?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Thank you for having me. My resignation stemmed from a sense of dissatisfaction with certain decisions made within the party over the last two months. I expressed my concerns to the president of our parliamentary group, Nikos Pappa, believing that stepping down from my position was the most honest course of action given the circumstances.
**Interviewer:** That’s quite a statement. How do you assess the current state of SYRIZA after these recent developments?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** SYRIZA finds itself at a critical juncture. The party has experienced some turbulence, particularly following the recent episodic congress and other resignations. I hope this will prompt a reevaluation of our strategies and restore our focus on the core issues that matter to our constituents.
**Interviewer:** With the political landscape shifting, do you think SYRIZA is facing challenges that could be difficult to overcome? What do you believe are the most pressing issues for the party now?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Absolutely, there are significant challenges ahead. The party needs to reconnect with the electorate and refocus on key social and economic issues, especially in the aftermath of harsh public criticisms and setbacks. It’s crucial for us to listen to grassroots concerns and take actionable steps toward regaining public trust.
**Interviewer:** In your view, what should the strategy be for SYRIZA moving forward to ensure a strong rebound?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** We need to foster internal unity and clearly articulate our vision to the public. Engaging with citizens, actively addressing their concerns, and reforming our approach to policy-making are essential. Transparency and accountability must also be at the forefront of our priorities.
**Interviewer:** as someone who has stepped back from a leadership position, what message do you have for your fellow SYRIZA members and the general public?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** I would urge my colleagues to keep an open dialog and be receptive to feedback from our base. To the public, I want to reassure them that SYRIZA is aware of its past mistakes and is committed to making necessary changes to represent their needs effectively.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for your time, Mr. Gavrilos. Your insights are invaluable as the political climate continues to evolve.
