What were the specific choices made by SYRIZA that led to your dissatisfaction and resignation as a parliamentary representative?
**Interview with Giorgos Gavrilos**
**Interviewer:** Giorgos, you’ve recently submitted your resignation as SYRIZA’s parliamentary representative. Can you share what led to your decision and your thoughts on the current state of the party?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Thank you for having me. My resignation comes after a period of deep reflection on the direction in which SYRIZA is heading. I communicated my decision to the party’s president, Nikos Pappa, expressing my dissatisfaction with certain choices made in the last two months that I believe do not reflect our core values or the expectations of our constituents.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned a “mistake” made by the party. Could you elaborate on that? What do you see as the main issue that has driven you to resign from such a significant role?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** The main issue revolves around our response to recent developments within the political landscape. I feel we have not been proactive enough in addressing key concerns of the public, which has led to a disconnect between the leadership and our supporters. It’s crucial for any political party to listen to the voices of its community and adapt accordingly.
**Interviewer:** This decision comes amidst the party being on a tightrope, as you’ve stated. How do you view the future of SYRIZA in light of these challenges? Do you think the party can recover from this turbulence?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Recovery is possible, but it will require genuine introspection and openness to change. The party must critically assess its actions and engage more effectively with the electorate. I believe that if we can regain that trust, we can emerge stronger than before.
**Interviewer:** This situation seems poised to spark debate among SYRIZA supporters and the public at large. In your opinion, what would be the most important question for voters to consider regarding SYRIZA’s future direction?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Voters should ask themselves whether SYRIZA is truly representing their interests and values. Are we listening and responding to the issues that matter most to the people? It’s essential for the party to demonstrate that it stands firmly by its principles and is committed to serving the public effectively.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Giorgos, for sharing your insights. This certainly raises important questions about leadership and accountability within political parties.
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Thank you for having me. I hope the discussion continues.
