The Fortuna Polish Cup final will take place on Thursday, May 2, between Wisła Kraków and Pogoń Szczecin. Michał Żyro, who can win the sixth Polish Cup in his career, spoke out before the upcoming match.
It is worth recalling that although Żyro now defends the colors of “White Star”, in the 2018/2019 season he was a player of Pogoń Szczecin. How did the 31-year-old feel in the Portowcy team?
– I remember playing for Pogoń very well, apart from the health problems I had. I remember it was very nice. I was happy there. I wish I had stayed there longer. I also remember that I didn’t manage to prepare well physically before the season and that’s why I got this injury – said Żyro in a conversation with Damian Domitrz.

The five-time representative of Poland, who appeared on the pitch, among others, in the friendly match Germany – Poland (0:0), played in May 2014, recalled that during his career he played in all teams that reached the semi-finals of the Fortuna Polish Cup this season. .
– The semi-finals were such that I played for all the clubs that were there. It was something cool. Now I look more at Wisła, he said.
Despite the prestige of the upcoming match, Żyro admitted that more important than a possible triumph in the Polish Fortuna Cup is promotion to the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, for which the players of the Krakow club are now fighting.
– If I had to choose, I would choose promotion to PKO BP Ekstraklasa. This is more important for the entire club and for the players, the player concluded.
It is worth recalling that Żyro has already won five Polish Cup victories. He won these trophies when he represented Legia Warszawa.
