A commission from the Investigative, Scientific, Penal and Forensic Corps (Cicpc) arrested a 31-year-old man in the Brisas de Popatria sector in Caracas.

The detainee is accused of the murder of a 61-year-old citizen, who had lent him money and in return the alleged murderer pawned him a telephone as collateral.

The police information revealed that the money that the apprehended obtained by pawning the cell phone was spent in a betting house, so he went to the sexagenarian’s home to claim his phone.

The attacker initially took advantage of the victim’s trust and asked for a glass of water. At that moment, he seized a knife and threatened to kill the older adult.

The man called for help, but no one came. He gave him multiple penetrating puncture wounds, so that he died immediately, according to Douglas Rico, director of the Cicpc.

Meanwhile, the suspect took the opportunity to obtain various valuables and money from the house.

Police investigations began and led to the arrest of the subject, which occurred in the El Cortijo Urbanization, El Recreo parish.

Officials seized a telephone, a bugle and a hair straightener. The objects will be presented as evidence of the case, which has already been notified to the Public Ministry.
