The “Umrah and Visitation Forum”, organized by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for 3 days, witnessed a significant presence and wide interest from various parts of the world to know more regarding the integrated solutions and services provided that enrich the spiritual and cultural experience of God’s guests. In conjunction with the event space accompanying the forum, it offers distinctive experiences, innovative services and an exciting interactive journey for visitors.

Dialogue sessions, workshops and round tables at the King Salman Congress Palace in Madinah (western Saudi Arabia), over the past three days, discussed everything that contributes to improving different aspects related to travel guests of God. Ideas from experts, specialists and interested people from within and outside the Kingdom varied, to take the experience of Umrah and visits to new horizons, as part of efforts to unify the visions, strengthen partnerships and integrate solutions.

The first edition of the forum, sponsored by the Emir of the Medina region, Salman bin Sultan, saw the signing of an agreement to establish a portfolio of projects worth $26.6 million (100 million riyals). Between the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, the General Authority for Endowments and the Prince Miteb bin Abdulaziz National Foundation, to support and develop the field of watering the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, in the presence of the Emir of the region and Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.
The agreement is part of efforts to develop infrastructure and improve services provided to pilgrims and visitors, and embodies the commitment of the authorities concerned to enhance their experience of the Kingdom.

In this context, Ammar Al-Sindi, one of the artisans working on weaving the fabric covering the Kaaba present at the exhibition, said: “Its production goes through 10 stages characterized by the mastery and quality of the design and of the integration of the golden fabric”.
He explained that the covering of the Kaaba contains 52 pieces of gold, woven with 670 kilograms of natural silk and decorated with more than 120 kilograms of gold and approximately 100 kilograms of silver, noting that its production takes 10 months, during which the covering is embroidered with Quranic verses and Islamic decorations, and a new garment is replaced every year on the first day of the month of Muharram.
