He is trying to prevent his transfer: “El Marro” is in prison for various crimes

MEXICO CITY (El Universal).— The leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias “El Marro,” attempted, through an injunction, to stop his transfer from the maximum security prison in Altiplano to the Federal Readaptation Center number 14 “CPS-Durango,” specialized in prisoners for the crime of kidnapping.

On the same day he was transferred to another prison, the man from Guanajuato filed a complaint before the Eighth District Judge for Amparo and Federal Trials in the State of Mexico, José Fernando García Quiroz, alleging forced disappearance, incommunicado detention, acts of torture, cruel treatment, and the transfer order executed by the Decentralized Administrative Body, Prevention and Social Readaptation, as well as its execution.

However, the judge of amparo only granted “El Marro” a suspension ex officio to the effect that the acts consisting of forced disappearance, incommunicado detention, acts of torture and cruel treatment would cease.

“The suspension is hereby decreed ex officio so that acts consisting of forced disappearance, incommunicado detention, acts of torture and cruel treatment, as well as any other act prohibited by Article 22 of the Constitution, cease,” the judge determined.

In 2022, the leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel was sentenced to 60 years in prison for his responsibility in the crime of aggravated kidnapping against a woman from the municipality of Apaseo el Alto.

Linked to process

A control judge at the Reclusorio Oriente has charged Néstor Arturo alias “El 20”, leader of the Nuevo Imperio Cartel, with crimes against health, in the form of drug dealing; bribery, and possession of a firearm for the exclusive use of the Mexican Army, Navy and Air Force.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the General Coordination of High Impact Crimes Investigative Affairs, formulated the corresponding charge and requested the linkage to the process of the accused.
