The fact that Laurent Simons is a “child prodigy” had already been known for some time. A few years ago, the young Belgian had already started a bachelor’s degree in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, but he did not finish it following a disagreement with the university.
In July 2021, he completed his Bachelor’s studies in physics in Antwerp while winning the highest distinction, at the age of 11. The student, who was aiming for a doctorate, therefore officially embarked on the university’s Master’s program, of which he had already taken a few courses.
Today, we learn that the 12-year-old from Ostend has obtained his Master’s degree. His general average? 88%, just that! Laurent Simons speaks to the Standaard: “I know the subject very well, so I automatically get a good mark”.
From now on, the gifted little boy wants to study medicine. His ultimate goal is to immortalize humanity by making artificial organs.
