Felipe Cabrera Sarabia, considered one of the main collaborators of the drug trafficker Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, pleaded guilty this Friday, January 20, before a federal court in Chicago for distributing more than 150 kilograms of cocaine and more than 30 of heroin.
Cabrera Sarabia, 51 years old, known as “El Inge”, he might receive a minimum sentence of 10 years in jail and possibly up to life in prison.
During a hearing before federal judge Sharon Johnson Coleman, Sarabia said through an interpreter that he had “always made a living as a rancher.”
In 2011, Mexican authorities captured Felipe Cabrera Sarabia, who was a lieutenant of “El Chapo” and responsible for the activities of Sinaloa Cartel drug trafficking in the states of Durango and Chihuahua. Nine years later, Cabrera Sarabia, alias “the engineer”, was extradited to the United States where he was accused of importing illegal substances and being part of a criminal group.
According to the authorities, Cabrera Sarabia maintained tight control of criminal activities, which allowed him to climb positions in the organization of “El Chapo” who is serving a life sentence in EUnited States, and become a key player in drug trafficking.

Gerardo Soberanes OrtizIn addition to being the lieutenant of “El Mayo” Zambada, he was appointed as the financial operator of the Cartel led by the Cabrera Sarabia brothers.
He was even allegedly the criminal boss in the municipalities of San Dimas, Otaez and Pueblo Nuevo, all in the mountainous area of Durango.
He is linked to politicians of the stature of the Senater José Ramón Enríquez Herrera, today a activist of Morena and with some other Duranguen profiles who have had appointments in security areas.
He is also known as “El Licenciado” or “El Lic.” and he is one of the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel in Durango.
In the early 2000s, he would have been a member of the Federal Investigation Agency, from which he left to join the ranks of organized crime.
For more than a decade, he rose as one of the main operators of the Cartel. He was known for structuring and leading a Christian congregation, whose facilities are located on Domingo Arrieta boulevard, in the capital of Durangowhere it is said he was the leader.
