The father of a 29-year-old girl went to court to stop paying alimony since she doesn’t work, isn’t looking for work, and doesn’t care for her either.
The unusual happened with in Béjar, Spain. The girl only worked one day and lives with her partner. She is the daughter of a couple who divorced by mutual consent on November 18, 2005. Since then, her father had been paying alimony: 125 euros per month for each of the couple’s two daughters.
According to data from the General Treasury of Social Security, the woman only worked one day, between May 10 and 11, 2016, as reflected in her working life.
Even from January 1, 2021, he receives the insertion income from the Social Services Management of Castilla y León for an amount of 401.92 euros.
However, it is not the first time that this father has tried to get rid of this payment. In 2018 it was dismissed in the first instance. The sentence clarifies that, at that time, “the young woman could not live independently”, despite having an initial professional training qualification as a pharmacy and parapharmacy technician, because the situation of access to the labor market for young people “was complicated ”. Despite this, since that resolution, “no document has been provided to prove that she has had a job, or that she is actively looking for a job, or that she continues to train.”
In 2017, she went to live with her father in Béjar and their coexistence led to a complaint against her father for alleged mistreatment that forced the man to leave his own home. The complaint was finally filed.
The Spanish courts determined as a result of these cases that the girl “maintains an evident and manifest lack of interest in actively looking for a job and in working, and although she does not have economic independence, this is only due to her lack of diligence and interest in getting a job”.
