President Gabriel Boric shielded Minister Jackson in the Segpres, following generating a conflict between the two coalitions that support the Government. In addition, he referred to the proposals of the ruling party for the plebiscite, which are channeled by the ministry led by the former deputy. Some political sectors accused interventionism by La Moneda for this latest action.
President Gabriel Boric supported the Segpres minister, Giorgio Jackson, following provoke a conflict between the government parties.
“Our scale of values and principles regarding politics is not only far from the previous government, but also compared to a generation that preceded us,” said the former RD deputy in a Twitch program.
These words aroused criticism in the PS and PPD, whose members they accused “unfortunate arrogance” and “unacceptable moral superiority” on the part of the Secretary of State.

After an activity in the framework of the Chile Supports Plan, Boric assured that “We as a generation, because it is true that we are young, we have a duty to learn from history.”
“Those who preceded us in the fight, in the work that I have to do today, but also in other ministries, had great successes and also made mistakes. We have to learn from both and we have to do it with great humility, because nobody here is born knowing,” he added.
On the other hand, he stated that Minister Jackson “has my support and backing”. Along these lines, he recognized that “I am constantly evaluating our cabinet and all the people with whom we work.”
Boric for the role of Minister Jackson in the face of the plebiscite
On another topic, the President referred to the role of the Ministry General Secretariat of the Presidency regarding the proposal for a new Constitution.
Boric himself urged the ruling parties to agree on what aspects of the text they would be willing to modify, if it is approved on September 4.
Along these lines, Jackson’s portfolio was open to channel the different ideas to reach “common minimums”. This function was criticized by certain sectors, who once more accused an alleged interventionism of the Government in the plebiscite.
In this regard, the President stated that “The dialogue has to be permanent with who best facilitates this”adding that “here we cannot stay neither from the Government, nor from the parliamentarians, nor from other political authorities that are important in personal pride.”
“Whoever best facilitates the dialogue has to carry this forward”closed, leaving doubts regarding the continuity of Jackson in this coordinating role.
Minister Siches: “You have to understand healthy differences”
The Minister of the Interior and head of the cabinet, Izkia Siches, was consulted by those voices that ask for Jackson’s departure from La Moneda.
“It is important that all of us who are part of the Government understand our healthy differences in order to consolidate joint work”he indicated.
Also, he said that “It is not up to the opposition or the government to give an opinion regarding that power, and even less to do so through the press.”
Jackson buries idea of a single government coalition
Jackson’s statements ended up burying the idea of generating a single government coalitionwhich involves Approve Dignity and Democratic Socialism.
Senator José Miguel Insulza (PS), asserted that he takes the minister’s words “as a declaration of principles, which certainly make it difficult to speak of single coalitions and things of the sort.”
“It is clear that he believes that there are different values that inspire the different components of a coalition, which makes it difficult for us to speak of a true unity”he added.
Deputy Raúl Soto (PPD), president of the Chamber, agreed with the former Secretary General of the OAS. “The idea of a single coalition must be categorically discarded”he expressed.
“The duty of Democratic Socialism is to rebuild and modernize the center-left to make a dam in a polarized country”concluded the legislator.
