“He has been officially denazified and demilitarized”

Major General Roman Kutuzov, a commander in the separatist Donetsk People’s Republic, has been “officially denazified and demilitarized”, the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced on Sunday evening, according to Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrayinska Pravda. A Russian state television correspondent previously reported Kutuzov’s death.

The major-general was reportedly killed in a Russian attack on a village near Popasna in the Lugansk region of eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian side had previously indicated that the attack had been repelled and that the enemy had to withdraw “with considerable losses”.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, several Russian generals have been killed in action. Official sources in Russia have meanwhile confirmed the death of four generals.

Ukraine announced the death of at least seven Russian generals, but it appeared that two of them were still alive.
