Al Hammadi participated as a substitute in the 75th minute in his team’s match against Liverpool in the first round of the English Premier League for the 2024-2025 season.
After the match, the Premier League account on the “X” platform wrote: “Ipswich Town player Ali Al-Hammadi became the first Iraqi to play in the English Premier League, which means that 124 countries have been represented in the English Premier League since the competition was launched in 1992.”
Who is Ali Al Hammadi?
Ali was born in Maysan Governorate, southern Iraq, on March 1, 2002, meaning he is now 22 years old.

His career
In 2015, at the age of 13, Al Hammadi took part in the Liverpool Schools Championship where he caught the attention of talent scouts and joined Tranmere Rovers’ under-14 team, spending three years at the club.
In the summer of 2018, Al Hammadi left Liverpool and his family and moved to Wales where he joined the Swansea City Academy on a two-year scholarship.
But Al Hammadi’s professional career began with Wycombe Wanderers in 2021, then two years later with Wimbledon, then he signed for his current team, Ipswich Town, in January 2024 and succeeded in promoting them to the English Premier League last May.
At the international level, Al Hammadi played 12 matches with the Iraqi national team, during which he scored three goals.
