Diego Fiorita started his coffee-in-hand day by philosophizing on the beauty of life. A few hours later, he was shot on the terrace of a restaurant in the Latin Quarter in Montreal where he had his habits.

Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, the 50-year-old man was seated at the Napoli pizzeria on rue Saint-Denis when he was shot in the upper body. His death was pronounced at the hospital.
“I take this opportunity to wish everyone a good day. We start with the morning coffee, it feels good. I love life. So good, so beautiful, so pleasant,” said Diego Fiorita the same morning in a video he posted on his Facebook page.
Then he adds, with a smile on his face. “Coffee in the rain, but a roof, a blanket that shelters me. You have to appreciate this kind of moment. Who you are, I invite you to join me. You are welcome anytime you wish, I will wait for you.”
“In the meantime, I continue to enjoy life. I wish you a very good day and I hope that you do the same thing as me, that is to say, try to take the time, to enjoy through all your obligations, because there are just one to live, so don’t miss it, he formulates blowing a kiss. Take care”, concludes Diego Fiorita.
At the time of her death, Fiorita was facing criminal charges for uttering threats and making harassing communications in a marital context, according to court documents seen by Le Journal de Montreal.
Yesterday, 30 minutes before Diego Fiorita was shot, another man was murdered in the Rockland Center parking lot in Mount Royal.
At the time of writing, the SPVM has not indicated whether one or more suspects are in their sights regarding these two crimes.
