“He did the right thing.” The English Premier League’s all-time top scorer supports Salah’s reaction to Klopp and justifies his position

England – The English Premier League’s all-time top scorer, Alan Shearer, considered that Mohamed Salah’s reaction to his Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, following he was excluded from the Reds’ squad in the match with West Ham, was the right thing to do.

Klopp did not start Salah in the match once morest West Ham last Saturday and decided to include him in the last 11 minutes when the score was tied at 2-2, and the two got into a verbal altercation on the touchline before the Egyptian star took to the field.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw, causing Liverpool’s slim hopes to suffer another blow in the race to win the English Premier League title in Klopp’s final season, who will leave the club at the end of this season.

Shearer said in statements reported by the Independent newspaper: “We do not know what Klopp said to Salah. It is clear that he said something that angered him.”

He added, “It is clear that Salah made the correct reaction following sitting on the bench and coming on as a substitute. Perhaps he was right in that, even though he did not reach the level he presented in previous years.”

The former England international added: “I understand that Salah felt upset because of the number of times he saved Liverpool.”

He continued: “Salah is performing exceptionally this season, as he scored 17 goals in 25 matches in the English Premier League. It is truly unfortunate for a player with Salah’s characteristics to face some criticism in light of these wonderful achievements.”

Salah intensified the controversy following the match when he refused to explain what happened to his coach and simply said: “You will catch fire today if you speak.”

But Klopp tried to downplay the importance of the incident, as he said in the press conference that followed the match that his argument with Salah “ended” following he spoke to the Egyptian star in the locker room.

The German coach explained: “We talked regarding it in the locker room, and it was over for me.”
