Max Verstappen recently has collected the 5 drivers he believes are among the best of all timeand the list also included Fernando Alonso, who is the current leader of the field with his 42 years.
At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Mundo Deportivo asked Verstappen, among other things, whether he really considers Alonso one of the best of all time – the Dutchman answered with a clear yes, then continued:
“Alonso could have 8 world titles if he’s a bit luckier in his career and makes the right decisions at the right time – so the titles don’t matter. Many people look at the number of titles and create a list based on that, but it is not only the number of titles that matters, and this is the case in all sports.”
“Will the best player be the one who won six Champions Leagues and a World Cup or two? Not necessarily. It’s a team game that requires a lot of different factors to be successful.”
“I feel that Fernando Alonso is clearly one of the best drivers of all time, because wherever he went, he was always very, very fast. But you also need the machine to win races, and he didn’t always have that factor.”
“Fernando is a fighter and a very diverse driver, because he can drive a lot of different cars: be it F1, rally, Dakar, long-distance racing, he was fast in all areas, and very few people can do that,” explained the three-time world champion.
Meanwhile according to the Spanish commentator, the FIA found an illegal solution for Red Bullwhile Hamilton congratulated Ralf Schumacher and addressed the Hungarian government.
