He could go to jail after calling his ex 800 times in two days

A Maryland man might spend the next five years in jail following calling his ex-wife more than 800 times in two days.

Derik Wayne Bowers, 44, was arrested and accused of cyberbullying following trying to contact and intimidate his former flame via phone, text and Facebook.

The indictment claims that in December 2022, the man allegedly called the woman 815 times in two days. He would also have sent thousands of text messages in the past few months in addition to trying to humiliate her publicly on social networks.

If convicted, Bowers might face up to five years in prison.

“Cyberbullying is a crime that must be taken seriously,” said the lawyer representing the state in this case. I encourage victims to file a complaint in order to prevent the culprits from harming other people”.

The FBI and the Sheriff’s Office continue their investigation.
