He buys fake Ozempic on Facebook and begins an ordeal: “I was vomiting foam, bile and …

She was looking for a way to lose weight so she searched Facebook, where she bought £80 weight loss injections convinced it was Ozempic, but ended up in hospital after she started vomiting blood. It happened to Jodi Jones, 37-year-old mother of three, who turned to a beautician for the magic injection in her hoping to go from size 14 to size 10.

Of the four doses purchased, however, Jodi she barely made it to the secondadministered last July 25, when he started to vomiting foam, bile and blood.

After two days of agony, the woman’s 18-year-old daughter finally called for help. Upon arriving at the hospital, the woman was given anti-nausea drugs and fluids via IV, to allow her body to expel the toxic substance. “It was just horrible. I have never been so sick in my life and I had sepsis,” the woman told Mail Online -. This seemed worse because of the constant vomiting. I was in excruciating pain. It was absolutely excruciating. I had the first injection and I felt very sick, had hot flashes and just felt very tired. Then it went away within a day or two. That week I couldn’t stomach certain foods but I thought, ‘great, this is working.’ When I had the second injection, I woke up in the night vomiting and couldn’t stop. All Friday I was throwing up. I have teenage kids, so they brought me water, but every sip came up to the point where I was throwing up foam, bile and blood. My son Harry took care of me all night until 2am, but then he fell asleep. I had to call my eldest daughter because I couldn’t scream or get up. I was completely out of my mind at that point, I was so dehydrated. She called an ambulance and they came and took me to the hospital on Saturday morning.”

A choice, therefore, that Jodi would never make again, that of rely on a slimming drug to lose weight. And doctors are doubtful about the substance used, but they think it is a fake Ozempic because they have seen patients with similar reactions before.

The drug semaglutide was originally offered by the National Health Service in England for help patients with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. Known by the trade names of Ozempic e Wegsthe drug triggers weight loss through a hormone that makes you feel less hungry.

In June, the World Health Organization had denounced that three counterfeit batches of the drug had been released onto the market. “I had to have blood tests because they were worried about my kidneys. My blood sugar levels dropped to dangerous levels. I had to tell them the truth about what I had taken, I felt so embarrassed. I ended up getting four bags of fluids over the weekend. The doctors said I’m not the first and probably won’t be the last. At one point they were considering testing the shot because of how sick I was. I was finally discharged on Sunday night and was able to eat a yogurt.”

Jodi started taking the drug because Her severe spinal problems prevent her from exercising, so she has been looking for alternative ways to lose weight. But the woman says she regrets her actions because it could have had serious consequences for her and her family. “If I had been alone at home it could have been fatal. I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow. Imagine being a single mother with young children who don’t understand what’s happening and you end up stuck in bed like that, who would know? It’s just dangerous. It’s like playing roulette with your life. I feel mortified that I went through all this, especially for my children. To see myself in that condition just because I wanted to lose weight. It was selfish. I didn’t know the risks. I should have done my research. I trusted a beautician because she has a Facebook page. She’s selling to hundreds of people. When you see it you think ‘it’s okay’, but in reality it wasn’t.”

The problem with this ‘special drug’ would therefore be due to its ease of access. Many people, famous or not, who have used the drug produced by Ozempic (or similar) have then complained about the side effects. Among these, also the actress Bella Thorne, who has denounced the difficulties due to the use of the drug.
