He bet on renewable energy and is now richer than Jeff Bezos

This week the famous list of billionaires of Bloomberg had a romp. Although Elon Musk remains by far the richest man in the world, with an estimated fortune of $264 billion, a little-known tycoon from India made it onto the podium, knocking Amazon founder Jeff Bezos out of second place. This is Gautam Adani, the first person from Asia to occupy that rank. Adani, head of one of the most lucrative empires in his sector, commands the stops in the port, airport, gas and coal mining businesses. Concerned that much of his fortune comes from industries supported by fossil fuels, Gautam Adani decided to get fully into the renewable energy business. That bet, very well received in the markets, has earned the Indian tycoon profits of more than 70 billion dollars this year alone. Now, the new second richest man in the world, has in his hands a fortune estimated at 147 billion dollars.
