Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held an official session of talks at Qasr al-Watan in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, in the presence of the two official delegations, following the arrival of the Syrian President yesterday followingnoon to the United Arab Emirates on an official visit, during which he was accompanied by First Lady Asma al-Assad.
The talks dealt with the bilateral relations between the two countries and how to strengthen them, reflecting the depth of the historical ties between the two brotherly peoples, the Syrian and the UAE. The talks also dealt with the positive developments taking place in the region and the importance of building on these developments to achieve stability for their countries and peoples who aspire to more safety and prosperity. President al-Assad considered that the UAE’s positions have always been rational and moral, and that its role in the Middle East is a positive and effective role to ensure strong relations between Arab countries, stressing that this role intersects with Syria’s vision of the need to strengthen bilateral relations between Arab countries, leading to joint Arab action that constitutes The logical reflection of what unites these countries and their peoples and achieves their interests. President al-Assad also stressed that disharmony and severing relations is an incorrect principle in politics, and that it is normal for relations between Arab countries to be sound and fraternal.
For his part, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the importance of Syria’s return to its Arab surroundings, building bridges and strengthening relations between all Arab countries for the benefit and interest of their peoples.
President al-Assad thanked the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed, and the pillars of the UAE and the Emirati people for their support to the Syrian people to confront the earthquake disaster, describing the humanitarian role of the UAE in helping Syria to overcome the effects of the devastating earthquake disaster as an effective role that carried with it sincere love and a pure fraternal impulse. And he had an important impact in mitigating the repercussions of the earthquake for those affected by it in Syria, and he considered that despite the great pain that this disaster brought to the Syrians, the broad solidarity and support they received from their brothers had a great impact in alleviating them.
For his part, Mohammed bin Zayed affirmed that the United Arab Emirates stands with Syria heart and soul, and will continue to show solidarity and stand with the Syrian people in what they have been subjected to as a result of the war and earthquake, and will continue to provide various types of assistance to support the efforts of the Syrian government in this field.
The President of the UAE praised the Syrian community present in the Emirates, considering that it had a special and positive imprint in building the UAE and the growth of the wheel of the economy in it.
Yesterday, at noon, President Al-Assad arrived in the United Arab Emirates on an official visit, during which he was accompanied by the First Lady, Asma Al-Assad. Upon his arrival at the presidential airport in Abu Dhabi, he was received by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Upon entering the airspace of the UAE, President al-Assad’s plane was accompanied by several warplanes, welcoming his visit.
President al-Assad then headed to the Al-Watan Palace, where an official reception ceremony took place upon his convoy’s arrival. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed accompanied President al-Assad to the podium of honor and the national anthem of the Syrian Arab Republic was played, while artillery fired 21 rounds and a group of honor guards lined up to salute his sovereignty.
President al-Assad was received by National Security Adviser Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Special Affairs Adviser at the Presidential Court Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan. Secretary General of the Supreme Council for National Security Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Diplomatic Adviser to UAE President Anwar bin Muhammad Gargash, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Muhammad Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Justice Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, and Minister State Khalifa Shaheen Al-Murr.
President al-Assad is accompanied by a delegation that includes Ministers of Economy and Foreign Trade Samer Khalil, Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam, Information Minister Boutros Hallaq, Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Soussan, and Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi Ghassan Abbas.
Gargash: The UAE’s approach towards Syria is part of a broader vision to enhance Arab and regional stability
The diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Anwar bin Muhammad Gargash, confirmed that the UAE’s approach and efforts towards Syria are part of a broader approach aimed at strengthening Arab and regional stability, stressing the need for Syria to return to its surroundings by activating the Arab role.
“The UAE’s position is clear regarding the need for Syria to return to its surroundings by activating the Arab role, and this was confirmed by (UAE President) Mohamed bin Zayed during his meeting today with President Bashar al-Assad,” Gargash said in a tweet yesterday on his Twitter account.
He added, “The UAE’s approach and efforts towards brotherly Syria are part of a deeper vision and a broader approach, aimed at strengthening Arab and regional stability, and overcoming difficult years of confrontation.”
He pointed out that the events associated with the decade of chaos and its repercussions proved that our Arab world is more deserving of addressing its issues and crises, away from regional and international interference.
