Italian food in Germany has a long tradition. Francesco Antonio Cuneo opened the first Italian restaurant in Germany in 1905 in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg. In 1952 Nicolino di Camillo opened the first pizzeria in Würzburg, the “Blaue Grotte”. It was the time when many Germans traveled to Italy for the first time as a result of the so-called economic miracle. After that, Italian cuisine became more and more established.
