After we spent the first few days with training and a bit of a tourist program, the official race week started on Monday with fixed dates and precise procedures. With almost 5000 athletes, everything has to be timed and planned. And the makers of the Ironman are pretty good at that. Short distances, hardly any waiting times and always a smile – we are really enthusiastic. A little swimming session in the morning in the somewhat stormy Pacific and then it started: official registration, pick up your start number and sign a lot of the small print. Everything worked out and somehow it feels different, just officially. Tomorrow the race briefing is on the agenda, there you will find all the information regarding the race and the special features here in Hawaii. On the way home we were surprised by a heavy downpour. It rains very regularly here, but usually stops quickly. The island is located in the middle of the Pacific and the warm air can transport a lot of water, which then falls as warm rain in paradise. Me ke aloha – Greetings from Hawaii.
