Henry Thoreau said that dreams are the essence of personality and that everyone must follow them to live the life they imagine.
Having a professional career and a family, or in other words, fulfilling oneself professionally and personally, still seems like an elusive dream for many women. Ingrained mandates and definitions that condition their choices are still present in the collective imagination.
For our generation, pursuing that dream meant traveling a winding path, almost always uncertain, sometimes painful, but other times very rewarding. Those of us who decided to follow him did so driven by an inner strength that is born in the clarity of our own purpose, with determination to overcome obstacles and not allow anyone to define us; fueled by the conviction of being able to achieve what we set out to do with the support of those who love and value us.
I write these lines because those of us who took that path and discovered that every battle was worth it, we need to encourage our friends, colleagues, and especially our daughters, to dream big, embrace their purpose and live their dreams with passion and pride.
