Have you Binged All the Top Box Sets? What Now?

Finished all your Netflix shows? It’s easy to do, especially right now when we’re all stuck at home watching more TV than ever. No doubt you spent the first week of a lockdown browsing the shows and adding them to your list. Then as the lockdown continues, it’s time to start watching everything you’ve saved. But by now, you’ve probably run out of things to watch, and you want something new. We can let you in on a little secret, giving you more access to even more great shows.

With the coronavirus pandemic confining us all to our homes, it was apparent that we’d take to the streaming sites like Netflix or Hulu. And it’s been lucky (if we can say that) that lots of shows and movies have been released, like the French show Lupin, despite the massive halt in production. New shows like Bridgerton have been lapped up by audiences, together with other hit shows, old and new. But as our title suggests, you get to a time when you’ve just plain run out of things to watch. Sure, you might try a different streaming site, but do you really want to pay out more than you already are? Especially when all you really need to do is to use a VPN to open up content that’s usually only available in other countries.

Take a trip around the box set world

You’ve probably noticed that when you go onto your streaming services, like Netflix, you only get access to the shows available in your region. There’s a lot to enjoy in the US, and often we’re the envy of people across the pond. But lockdown has increased viewing time, and there’s only so many times you can watch re-runs. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see what shows are available in the UK? Or perhaps some Scandi-noir shows from Norway or Denmark? Maybe even see what Spain’s up to? Just get your subtitle eyes ready, and there’s so much more to enjoy. And enjoy it you can when you use a VPN.

Okay, so how does a VPN work? A virtual private network lets you basically change your IP address. Instead of going online with the address coming from your home location, it might come from a completely different state or country – you just select which one you want.  When you choose an online VPN, and if you are, you need to make sure you’re doing it from one of the best available; you’ll be able to see for yourself just how much more content opens up to you.

By selecting a different server, you’ll head online from that location. For example, you might set it to London in the UK, and then when you head on to Netflix, you’ll be able to see all the UK content that you wouldn’t usually be able to find. This also works with different streaming apps too, like the BBC iPlayer. Certain apps and sites will recognize where you’re usually logging on from – you must have seen one of those messages that say “content not available in your country,” like the ones you get on YouTube.

By switching your location with a VPN, you won’t have to worry regarding those messages anymore. And instead, once you’ve got through the latest Riverdale season in the US, you can enjoy all the shows the UK has to offer. But it’s not just the UK. Try out different countries in Europe or Asia – take your pick and explore for yourself. You’ll be surprised at what you find.

Is it easy to use? You bet it is.  You can easily download a VPN onto your device, whether it’s a PC or Mac or a tablet or smartphone. You pay for the license so you can download it onto all your devices, or go for a router, and then that will cover all the devices in your household. Whatever you select, it’s simple to set up. Like most software, you can just follow the onscreen instructions, and they’ll guide you through the installation and how to use it. Though it’s straightforward to do – all you have to do is choose a server from an exhaustive list of locations, select it and turn it on. Then when you go online, the VPN will be active, and you can go and explore everything that the More 4 app from the UK has to offer. Not heard of it before? Don’t know what to expect from The Great British Bake Off? Well, more the reason to get hold of a VPN – it’s not cooking pasta, but instead lovely, moist cakes.
