Haval H6 GT from GWM can be delivered by Mercado Livre

Haval H6 GT is the new hybrid SUV from GWM that unites high performance with electric car experience

After welcoming Brazil with the arrival of the first batch of 41 units at the beginning of the year in the port of Vitória (ES), the Haval H6 GT PHEV AWD 2024 will now reveal all its sportiness in the test-drive program at the Interlagos, in São Paulo (SP), which starts this week.

GWM’s new model ushers in a new era of electrified performance with a plug-in hybrid SUV (PHEV) that is a thoroughbred sports car not only in the unique look, which stands out for the coupe body, but also in the level of performance, everything. this combined with an unprecedented electric range of 170 km (NBR cycle), the largest in the segment.

Sports version of the GWM SUV, hybrid plug-in coupe was created exclusively for Brazil

The high performance of the H6 GT AWD is manifested with an acceleration power from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, driven by the e-Traction technology, which is composed of a 1.5 turbo combustion engine and two electric motors. This powertrain is capable of generating 393 hp of combined power and 762 Nm (77.7 mkgf) of combined torque, using the same platform as the Haval H6 Premium PHEV AWD, family version of the H6 GT.

“The Haval H6 GT is a unique plug-in hybrid on the market. It combines exclusive sports design, surprising performance and a 170 km electric driving mode, unrivaled in the Brazilian market. No other offers the real experience of an electric car with the freedom of a hybrid model”, explains Oswaldo Ramos, Chief Commercial Officer of GWM Brasil.

e-Traction Technology

The Haval H6 PHEV brings e-Traction technology to Brazil, a hybrid engine and battery pack that represents a revolution in the Brazilian market because it combines the best of both worlds: maximum energy efficiency with high performance.

This set consists of three engines: a 1.5 turbo combined with an electric motor on the front axle and a second electric unit driving the rear axle, powered by a 34 kWh battery.

Showing its vocation as an electrified vehicle, the H6 GT also allows this battery to be recharged both in alternating current (AC) and in direct current (DC), which is usually exclusive to 100% electric vehicles. Minimum AC recharge time (0 to 100%) is regarding 5 hours (maximum rate 6.6 kWh) and DC recharge time (10% to 80%) is regarding 29 minutes (maximum rate 48 kW /H).

The e-Traction technology was designed so that the two electric motors are the main traction units, leaving the combustion engine as backup, to act in specific conditions. Therefore, the 1.5 turbo works most of the time as a generator to supply energy for the 34 kWh battery. In exceptional situations, it can also generate traction for the front axle, usually in conditions of road use or in case of total torque demand, but always in conjunction with the electric motors.

Thus, the new H6 GT offers the greatest electric range of a hybrid in Brazil, with 170 km in the NBR cycle. This guarantees the Haval H6 GT owner a real electric car experience, as it covers 80% of the average daily use of Brazilian drivers. The value is equivalent to 180 km in the NEDC cycle, one of the most used in the comparison of hybrid models in the domestic market.

Due to this powertrain configuration, the Haval H6 will always feature permanent All Wheel Drive (AWD), in which this traction is electronically distributed to each axle depending on the torque requirement and the level of grip of the wheels. Thus, it varies from 100% of the torque at the front axle to 100% at the rear, passing through any proportion that the e-Traction system judges necessary to guarantee the best grip, both in wet asphalt conditions and in off-road sections.

“GWM’s e-Traction system is a milestone in the market because it combines high performance with great energy efficiency. It will be a revolution in favor of the Brazilian consumer”, says Andre Leite, Head of the Haval SUV Line.

Made by Brazilians for Brazilians

Manufactured with the most advanced Chinese technology, the Haval H6 GT 2024 represents an innovation among imported hybrids because it is a version developed exclusively for the Brazilian market, from appearance to powertrain.

Its powertrain is unique because no other country has a Haval H6 GT that uses a 393 hp hybrid set with a 34 kWh battery. The company plans that this version of the Haval H6 will soon be offered in other GWM global markets as well.

The Haval H6 GT that will be offered in Brazil will also be equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels (ventilated on the front axle) and 19-inch black alloy wheels, shod solely by Michelin tires in the 235/55 R19 measure.

In style, this H6 GT stands out externally for its red brake calipers and GT badge, plus all black logos on the tailgate and Haval badge with black background on the front grille. To be able to compete in the competitive domestic SUV market, the Haval H6 GT also underwent several changes that go beyond design and powertrain. Among them, the suspension stands out, which was reworked to withstand the conditions of Brazilian roads and adapt to the habits and preferences of local drivers.

The steering system also received special attention. There have been tweaks to the smoothness level of the electric assistance and the steering wheel’s turning ratio, to make your responses quicker and more direct.

The nationalization of the project also included the reprogramming of active driving resources and modifications to the connectivity system, which will be 100% in Portuguese, including voice commands. The H6’s multimedia center also features a 12.3-inch Full HD TFT display with anti-glare treatment and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection.
