The first goal in the match was scored by the guests thanks to Isaac Romero, who took advantage of Pedrosa’s flat cross in the 10th minute and gave Sevilla the lead with a strong shot.
However, the Andalusians held it for just three minutes, because then the real concert of Artem Dowbyk began, and he completed a hat-trick in just six minutes! As calculated by Spanish statistician MisterChip, Dowbyk needed only 18 minutes and 53 seconds to score a hat-trick from the referee’s first whistle, which is the fastest result in La Liga since 1960. As for the time between the first and last goal, it is six minutes and 32 seconds, which is not even the best result this season, because in the Almeria – Granada match, Colombian Luis Suarez completed his hat-trick in five minutes and 25 seconds.
But from the beginning – in the 13th minute, Dowbyk converted a close cross from the left wing by Savinho into a goal and beat Marko Dmitrovic. Less than two minutes had passed and Girona was already in the lead thanks to the Ukrainian, after the hosts’ quick counter-attack was handed to him by Portu and he shot into the net from a few meters without any major problems.
In the 19th minute, when Dowbyk completed his hat-trick, no one had to help him. The Ukrainian himself cut with the ball from the right wing to the center and surprised Marko Dmitrovic with a very strong shot from 20 meters.
After as many as four goals were scored in 20 minutes at the Estadi Montilivi, there was much less action in the following minutes, and Girona controlled the result.
