Dream in lace. Between the racks where princess dresses and fitted jackets are spread out, Laurence Andrades is busy.
If her activity as a seamstress began a few years earlier in Le Cannet, it was in 2013 – exactly the year of the promulgation of the law of marriage for all – that the master artisan labeled crafts d’art opened her showroom in Cannes-la- Boca.
So yes, Charm’fou wedding is also celebrating its tenth anniversary. However, the union between people of the same sex does not represent the major part of its activity.
A statistical logic: “For example, of the 45 costumes this year, 5 were made for an LGBT wedding.”
On the supply side, its collection allows you to vary the colors, fabrics and accessories so that the bride and groom can wear different outfits while being coordinated.
“We see the personalities, there is the one who prefers extravagance, and the one who sticks to the classic. We can really go in both worlds”indicates this enthusiast, pointing to a top hat and a pommel cane: “There are also wedding themes that need to be addressed. Lately we’ve been working on the cabaret aesthetic.”
“There is always one more invested”
On the women’s side, if the majority of the two brides bet on the dress, others prefer a look with pants: “In particular, we made a white tuxedo for a bride with a lace top. His wife wore a dress, it was very beautiful to see them together.”
And depending on the morphology, it is even possible to try the men’s suit: “I remember a couple of rather advanced ladies, one of them set her sights on this masculine outfit. She might wear it, it was pretty classy.”
In short, as in any union, we are tailor-made. “Concretely, there is no real difference in my activity given the sexual orientation of the bride and groom”launches Amelia, wedding-planner from Var who travels all over the Côte d’Azur.
In fact, she sums things up nicely: “Gay, lesbian or straight couples, it’s always the same thing. There is always one of the two who is more invested, more picky. And there is always one who cares less regarding the color of the tablecloth! I believe that’s the right balance in a couple!”
