The Algerian Ministry of Culture decided to withdraw the license to show the movie “Barbie” from local cinemas.
The Algerian newspaper, Al-Shorouk, quoted unnamed sources as saying that the ministry had withdrawn the license to show the film, which was granted to the MD Cine distribution company.
The company deleted the film from its weekly programme, according to what appeared on its official Facebook page.
According to “Al-Shorouk”, the same applies to the “Cosmos” cinema, which did not refer to the film in its program of presentations.
On the other hand, Algeria continues to show the movie “Oppenheimer”, which means that the Algerians will be deprived of participating in the international fashion to watch the two contradictory works together.
It is noteworthy that the film was banned from showing in Kuwait with news of its ban in the Sultanate of Oman, and the Lebanese Minister of Culture, Muhammad al-Murtada, requested that it be banned, while Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Bahrain retracted the ban.
