TSV Hartberg has extended the best start to the season in its club history and consolidated its place in the top six of the Bundesliga. The Styrians won 4-0 (1-0) at Austria Lustenau on Sunday and are still fifth in the table. Donis Avdijaj (36th), Dominik Frieser (59th) and Maximilian Entrup (66th, 83rd) scored in the well-deserved success. The winless bottom team Lustenau played outnumbered from the 44th minute onwards following Pius Grabher was excluded.
Hartberg dictated the action throughout the entire game; the statistics showed around 70 percent possession of the ball. Markus Schopp’s team initially became dangerous several times over the side, with a low cross from Lustenau’s Leo Mätzler hitting his own post in an attempt to clear the ball (4′).
In the 36th minute the efforts were rewarded. The Styrians combined in a small space through the Austria defense, Avdijaj was finally free at the five-pointer and shot in to take the lead. In the 44th minute, Lustenau weakened itself when Grabher was ruled out following a brutal foul on Mamadou Sangare.
Coach Markus Mader made three changes during the break, but it had no effect. Hartberg controlled the game, didn’t allow anything defensively and increased the score through Frieser (59′). Maximilian Entrup, who came on following an hour, set the final points with his number six goals of the season (66th) and seven (83rd).
Lustenau didn’t have a single real chance in the entire game, still only has five goals this season and, with three points, has had the worst start to the season by a club following twelve rounds since St. Pölten 2017 (2). “We’re fed up,” chanted the Lustenau fans at the finish.
