The series will start in 2026, said Philippe Roucoule from the media company Warner Bros. Discovery on Wednesday in Munich at the presentation of a “Harry Potter” exhibition. The basis for the future series will be the seven novels by best-selling author JK Rowling, which inspired people around the world, as well as the successful eight-part film series.
However, many fans are likely to ask themselves one thing in particular: Who will embody characters like Harry Potter, Hagrid, Albus Dumbledore, Hermione or Ron Weasley in the series? “I really can’t say more about it because we don’t know more ourselves,” was Roucoule’s answer. How many seasons there will be is still unclear. Seven – one for each book? Or eight like in the movies? Or ultimately more?
Difficult task for actors
However, it is clear that a difficult task awaits the future “Harry Potter” actors, as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Maggie Smith and Robbie Coltrane have set high standards with their characters for years.
The producers hope that the new stories in the series will still satisfy fans, who often have a lot of love for individual characters. “We will immerse ourselves more in the books,” says Roucoule. “Because no matter how hard you try to do justice to the books in a film, you can’t really describe everything in its entirety, the environment, the characters and the stories.”
