Democratic candidate for president of the United States (US), Kamala Harris, promised to do everything in her power to end Israel‘s war in the Gaza Strip if elected president. This was conveyed in his speech two days before US Presidential Election Day 2024.
“This year has been a difficult year given the magnitude of death and destruction in Gaza as well as the many civilian casualties and displacement in Lebanon. This has been devastating and as president, I will do everything in my power to end the war in Gaza, bring home the hostages, end the suffering in Gaza, ensuring Israel’s security,” he said.
“And ensuring the Palestinian people can realize their rights to dignity, freedom, security and self-determination,” added Harris to thunderous applause during a campaign rally in the home state of Michigan.

Harris desperately needs to secure a majority in seven key battleground states in this year’s election cycle amid a tight race with former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump nationally.
A compilation of polls compiled by the site RealClearPolitics shows Trump just 0.1% ahead nationally with five polls showing them tied.
Michigan, with vibrant Arab and Muslim communities and 15 Electoral College votes at stake, is crucial to his electoral prospects. These states, along with Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, are considered swing states this year.

Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are crucial battlegrounds. Known as the Blue Wall, these states fell to Trump in 2016 and were then secured by President Joe Biden in 2020.
Harris and Trump each spent a lot of time campaigning in states with the understanding that either could potentially decide the election.
Election Day is scheduled for November 5 and Americans will decide not only the future of the American presidency. But also the future of Congress and a number of state and local elections.
More than 78 million Americans have cast their ballots early, including about 700,000 more Democratic voters than Republican voters, according to data published by the University of Florida Election Lab. (Anadolu/Z-2)

**Interview with Political Analyst Dr. Sarah Thompson on Kamala Harris’s Remarks about the Israel-Hamas Conflict**
**Host:** Good evening, and welcome to our special segment. Today, we’re discussing Vice President Kamala Harris’s recent remarks regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict and her promises to take action if elected president. Joining us is Dr. Sarah Thompson, a political analyst with a focus on international relations. Thank you for being here, Dr. Thompson.
**Dr. Thompson:** Thank you for having me.
**Host:** Kamala Harris has stated her commitment to ending the war in Gaza if elected. What do you think are the implications of her remarks, especially so close to the election?
**Dr. Thompson:** Harris’s statement is significant not only from a humanitarian perspective but also politically. By emphasizing the need to end the war and address civilian casualties in Gaza, she is positioning herself as a compassionate leader who prioritizes human rights. This could resonate well with voters who are concerned about the humanitarian crisis. However, it also places her in a delicate position, balancing U.S. support for Israel with the need to respect Palestinian rights.
**Host:** In her speech, Harris mentioned ensuring both Israel’s security and the rights of the Palestinian people. How do you see her being able to navigate these complex issues if elected?
**Dr. Thompson:** Navigating these issues will be a challenge for Harris, as U.S. foreign policy has traditionally leaned towards supporting Israel. She will need to find a way to advocate for Palestinian rights without alienating pro-Israel constituents. This dual approach could include more vigorous diplomatic efforts and a focus on negotiations that recognize the aspirations of both sides.
**Host:** Many political commentators have described this election as critical due to the ongoing conflict. How do you think Harris’s stance might impact the election outcome among different voter demographics?
**Dr. Thompson:** Harris’s approach may appeal to younger voters and progressives who prioritize social justice and human rights in foreign policy. However, it might raise concerns among more traditional voters who are firmly pro-Israel. The key for her campaign will be to articulate a balanced platform that addresses the concerns of all voters while promoting peace and stability in the region.
**Host:** Thank you, Dr. Thompson, for your insights. It will be interesting to see how Harris’s policies evolve as we head closer to Election Day.
**Dr. Thompson:** Absolutely. Thank you for having me.
**Host:** And thank you to our viewers for tuning in. We’ll continue to follow this story as it develops. Stay informed!
