Harris leads Trump in polls, Republicans declare their support for her

United States – Recent polls have revealed that Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is ahead of her Republican rival, Donald Trump, while dozens of Republican officials have announced their support for Harris, which her campaign considered a testament to the strength of the coalition she leads.

238 Republican officials who served in the administrations of previous presidents and presidential candidates issued a letter saying they would vote for Harris because the alternative is “untenable,” as the Democratic nominee made a new lead in a major poll.

The poll, published by Morning Consult, showed Harris increasing her lead over her Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, while the sample of those surveyed reached about 8,000 potential voters.

The poll showed that 48% of voters support Harris, while 44% said they would vote for her competitor, Trump, in this poll, which is the largest to date in terms of the size of the surveyed segment, and the first since the end of the Democratic National Convention and Harris’s official acceptance of the nomination.

Last Wednesday morning, the Democratic Party officially approved Kamala Harris, US Vice President Joe Biden, in a symbolic vote as a candidate to run in the presidential elections scheduled for next November, against her Republican rival, former President Donald Trump.

Donald Trump’s lead over Kamala Harris on the economy and crime is slipping among American voters, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows, a sign that Harris’s campaign is gaining momentum ahead of the upcoming presidential race.

The poll, conducted over three days from August 23 to 25, showed that the former Republican president’s approach to dealing with economic and employment issues attracted the attention of 43% of registered voters, compared to about 40% who preferred Harris’ approach. The difference of 3 percentage points is very small given the margin of error of 4 percentage points.

The latest poll found that the economy was the top issue for about 26 percent of registered voters, compared with 22 percent who chose political extremism and the threat to democracy and 13 percent who chose immigration.

A previous Reuters/Ipsos poll in late July showed Trump leading by about 11 points on the economy, while Harris tied with him on issues of fighting crime and corruption, at 40% each, indicating that more voters are shifting toward Harris, who had trailed Trump by 5 points in the previous poll.

This coincides with Trump continuing his campaign rallies, especially in those swing states, to ensure the continued support of his local supporters in the face of what is described as the progress being made by the Democrats.

On Monday, Trump cast doubt on the possibility of holding the upcoming debate with his Democratic rival Harris, as the debate is scheduled to take place next September on the American CBS network.

Trump accused the host network of being biased towards Harris, who requested an amendment to the rules of speaking and listening and keeping the speakers’ microphones open throughout the debate, while a spokesman for Harris’ campaign said that she was ready to hold an uncensored debate, adding that Trump should stop hiding behind the closed microphone, as he put it.

Trump also renewed his warnings about the future of the United States, saying that the country had reached a “dangerous level” under the leadership of the Democrats, explaining that the battle was not between Democrats and Republicans, but between “communism and freedom,” and that a large number of Democrats and independents had decided to support his campaign, according to him.
