This Friday followingnoon it was reported that the Board of Directors of Santiago 2023 appointed the former president of the ANFP, Harold Mayne-Nichollsin charge of the Executive Directorate of the Corporation.
“Mayne-Nicholls is a professional with extensive experience, leadership and a career in sports management, working for more than 30 years in different clubs such as Universidad Católica and Colo Colo and presiding over the Chilean Football Federation between 2007 and 2011”, highlights the Santiago Corporation 2023.
“The Santiago 2023 Corporation and its board of directors congratulate whoever today assumes the challenge of leading the organization of the largest multi-sport event developed by our country, thus strengthening its commitment to excellence at the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games,” added a statement from the corporation.
Resignation of Gianna Cunazza
The appointment of the former head of the ANFP, comes following the resignation of the former director of Santiago 2023, Gianna Cunazza, this Friday amid questions from the Comptroller’s Office to the Corporation for unpaid balances close to 50 million dollars.
It was Cunazza herself who released the information through a public statement.
“Through this statement, I report that I have submitted my voluntary resignation, which will become effective as of Tuesday, June 6,” the letter begins.
“It is a day full of emotions, but, above all, I feel calm and grateful. Tranquility of having contributed and worked very hard with the Corporation’s team to ensure that, almost 4 months following the Games, we are practically ready for Chile to have a great sports party”, he added.
