Harmful effects of stimulant drugs – Hossam Mowafi warns students against taking them:

Dr. Hossam Mowafi, Professor of Critical Cases at the Faculty of Medicine, Kasr Al-Ainy, warned of a common habit committed by a large number of students, especially during exams, that poses a great danger to their health.

Muwafi said during his program, “My Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge,” broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that this habit is taking stimulant medications, to increase concentration, enhance attention, and stay up for long hours at night.

The professor of critical care medicine added that stimulant drugs negatively affect the body’s biological clock, which increases the risk of developing sleep disorders, such as insomnia.

He explained that regular intake of stimulant drugs may lead to addiction, especially if the person feels headaches, mood swings, poor concentration and distraction, if he does not get the usual dose on time.
