Harmful effects of consuming bone marrow for cholesterol patients – Hossam Mowafy explains

Dr. Hossam Mowafy, professor of critical care at Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, explained that there is a popular food that cholesterol patients should stay away from, because of the harm it causes to their health.

Mowafi said during his program “My Lord, Increase My Knowledge,” broadcast on Sada El Balad channel, that the popular food he is referring to is “bone marrow,” stressing that it poses a great danger to cholesterol patients.

He added that bone marrow negatively affects heart health, because it contains a high percentage of saturated fats, which cause an increase in harmful cholesterol in the blood.

The professor of critical care medicine explained that bone marrow also leads to weight gain, urging obese patients not to consume it, in order to preserve their health.

Mowafy concluded his speech by pointing out that bone marrow is also dangerous for diabetics, as it increases their risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
