2023-09-02 12:26:43

According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Harley-Davidson issued a recall for 21 different models of motorcycles due to potentially faulty parts that might increase the risk of an accident.

The report says that a fastener holding the rear shock can break and allow the rear shock adjuster to damage the rear tire, causing a loss of pressure.

A loss of tire pressure can cause a loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident.

The signs that your motorcycle may be affected by this defect are the following:

“The operator or passenger may detect a noise under the seat. Also, a loose rear shock adjuster may become noticeable if the seat is removed.

Additionally, if the rear shock adjuster makes contact with the rear tire, difficulty in handling the motorcycle may be experienced, and additionally, unusual tire wear may be noted,” says the Part 573 Safety Recall Report. the NHTSA.

The recall affects more than 65,000 individual motorcycles manufactured between June 28, 2017 and August 7, 2023.

What Harley-Davidson motorcycles are affected by the recall?
Softail motorcycles with a particular style of rear shock adjuster make up the majority of the retired population, according to the report.
