Ahmedabad: Gujarat Congress Working President Hardik Patel has quit the party. Hardik’s decision came at a time when party infighting was raging within the Congress in Gujarat. With just months to go before the Assembly elections in Gujarat, Hardik’s decision to defend the Congress. The resignation letter was handed over to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Hardik, a Patidar activist, joined the Congress just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

‘I am resigning from the Congress party and from my position in the party. I hope this decision will be taken by my colleagues and the people of Gujarat. With this decision, I believe we can work well for Gujarat, ”Hardik tweeted, sharing his resignation letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

In the last few days, Hardik has come out with harsh criticism once morest Congress leaders. He had tweeted that there were many leaders who wanted him to leave the Congress and therefore the High Command should ensure that he remained in the party.

Hardik Patel had earlier alleged that he was not invited to any meeting of the state Congress unit and was not consulted when making decisions. His position in Congress was that the condition of the sterilized newcomer was his own.
