Mumbai: Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sunil Gavaskar has said that Team India should consider making the most of the Hardik Pandya-Rishabh Pant duo’s death overs in Twenty20 cricket.
‘India is planning to play Rishabh at No. 5 or No. 6. Just think, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh bat together for No. 5 and No. 6 for Team India. A few overs can be played by both the strikers. But it will be an explosive combination in 14 to 20 overs.
In those 6 overs, India can expect 100–120 runs, ”Gavaskar told the Star Sports Channel.
Gavaskar said it was essential to have an X factor in the team to win the Twenty20 World Cup this year. Gavaskar said the Pant-Pandya alliance would be Team India’s X factor and he was looking forward to seeing what happens when they come together.
‘Both have a knack for it. We are waiting to see the performance of both ‘- his words. After winning the IPL, Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya told a media conference that his goal was to win the Twenty20 World Cup for India.
