Asuncion, IP.- American businessman Simon Falic, a member of the group of investors interested in building the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Ciudad del Este, informed the President of the Republic, Horacio Cartes, this week about the progress of the project and announced that the construction of a large-scale complex in the eastern part of the country with a multi-million dollar investment could begin before the end of the year.The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Gustavo Leite, who was present at the audience held last Thursday by the Head of State with businessman Simon Falic, highlighted the progress in the project that includes the installation of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Ciudad del Este.
“Mr. Simon Falic informed the President that all the conditions in the United States for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Company, as well as the New Jersey State Gaming Commission, have already been approved,” the minister said.
Leite highlighted the fact that the investors have obtained the company’s consent to set up in Paraguay. “This is a great step forward, since an American company like Hard Rock Hotel and Casino cannot go to a place without having the assurance that the country where it is going to establish itself has certain serious legal rules; this is also good for Paraguay,” he stressed.
The minister commented that the President of the Republic has also been informed about the architectural studies that are already being completed for the work, which will be taken into account when choosing the specific location where the complex will be installed.
“God willing, construction will begin before the end of the year, we are going to work towards it; there are still a lot of formalities, but progress is being made and I think the most important things have already been achieved,” he said, referring to the conditions that have already been met for the investment to take place in Paraguay.
This is the second visit that the American businessman has made to the President of the Republic, regarding the investment plan in our country. Simon Falic is the leader of a group of American businessmen who intend to build and operate the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Ciudad del Este, a project that has an approximate investment amount of between 70 and 80 million dollars.
“It would be a large tourist complex, with a resort, casino, 250 rooms, lots of parking, something very important is that the place provides the possibility of having parking, because it will be a project that will mark a before and after in Ciudad del Este,” the minister stressed.
He also indicated that the intention is to frame this initiative within the urban plan that is being undertaken in Ciudad del Este, in a coordinated effort with the Government of Alto Paraná and the Municipality of the area. “So we are going to do it as quickly as possible but completing all the stages. Again, the most important thing is that the authorizations from the United States, from the investors’ side and from the State Gaming Commission, have already been given,” said Leite.
