Indore: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh will not back down if he has to take tough decisions to strengthen the party. Jairam Ramesh’s statement comes in the backdrop of the cold war between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister and prominent leader Sachin Pilot. He was speaking to the media in Madhya Pradesh as part of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Gehlot had said in an interview to the national media that Sachin Pilot is a cheat. Pilot also criticized Gehlot’s statement that he cannot be removed from the post of Chief Minister. The response was that ‘making accusations’ would not help.
Jairam Ramesh’s reply to the question regarding the Gelot-Pilot issue was that organization is important. “If we look at the issue in Rajasthan, the solution that will strengthen the party will be decided. If strong measures have to be taken for this, they will be taken. If a compromise has to be made, that too will be done. Rajasthan will take proper resolution of the matter. I cannot decide the time limit for resolution in this matter. Congress should take the lead. “Congress needs Gelot and Pilot” – Jairam Ramesh added.
Jairam Ramesh said that some of the comments made regarding Gelot Pilot in the interview might have been avoided. He also stated that Bharat Jodo Yatra will be successful in Rajasthan as well as in other states. The journey will enter Rajasthan on December 4. Assembly elections will be held in Rajasthan for a year.
