The 8th chamber of the Charleroi criminal court on Monday pronounced a work sentence of 150 hours once morest the principal of the four defendants in the context of a case, among other things, of harassment and discrimination in recruitment within Charleroi airport (BSCA). The three other defendants benefited from an acquittal or a simple suspension of the sentence taking into account the exceeding of the reasonable time limit.

In June 2017, the judicial authorities looked into the worrying profile of the main defendant on Facebook. The latter confided his disenchantment with the police and called for “killing cops” or “attacking police stations with rocket launchers like in Mexico”. Placed under telephone surveillance and initially suspected of a possible connection with terrorism, the man stood out in his role as union representative at Charleroi airport (BSCA). “He seems not to respect safety instructions and would abuse his position as union delegate by placing, in particular, people of Arab origin at the airport. It’s regarding the mafia and the fakir. Wiretapping reports show that he is building a case once morest six people. He enjoys a feeling of omnipotence,” the public prosecutor said.

Harassment and discrimination in hiring

Between two and three years in prison were required once morest the main defendant. A prison sentence was requested once morest the three other defendants involved in the facts.
