New Delhi: Congress president Malika Junhar has criticized the Center for lifting the order barring government employees from joining the RSS.

Haq said India officially adopted the national flag in 1947, but the RSS did not accept it. His response is through X.

India officially adopted its national flag in 1947. But RSS does not accept the flag. Sardar Patel warned them then.

After Gandhi’s assassination on February 4, 1948, Sardar Patel banned the RSS. But 58 years later, Modi lifted the ban on government officials participating in RSS activities,” Haq wrote in “X”.

Haq said they knew how the RSS was used by the BJP to take over all constitutional and autonomous institutions. Haq added that Modi was trying to ideologically politicize government offices and employees by lifting the ban.

He also pointed out that this would challenge the impartiality of government officials and the supremacy of the Constitution. Haq added that the government is taking these steps because the people have defeated the BJP’s intention to amend the constitution.

Hague said the opposition would continue to work to protect the country’s constitution and democracy.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh issued a copy of the order earlier on X.

The Department of Public Complaints and Pensions issued the memo on July 9. The memo cites earlier orders dated November 30, 1966, July 25, 1970, and October 28, 1980. The memorandum states that these instructions have been reviewed and it has been decided to remove the reference to RSS from these orders.

After Gandhi’s assassination in February 1948, the RSS was banned. The ban was subsequently lifted on grounds of ensuring good behaviour. In 1966, government employees were banned from RSS activities. But with the new order, the Modi government lifted the 58-year-old ban.
